MUFG Stadium (National Stadium)
Completed in 2019, this is one of Japan’s leading sporting facilities, known by the nickname ‘Stadium in the Forest.’ Designed by Kengo Kuma and others, its eaves make use of timber gathered from all 47 prefectures across the country. The stadium features a layered design reminiscent of a five-story pagoda, and its greened exterior is crafted to blend into the forest of Jingu Gaien. Night games are also held for events such as the Meiji Yasuda J.League’s ‘MUFG The Kokuritsu Day’ and the NTT Japan Rugby League One final, offering an immersive spectator experience where lighting and visual effects come together as one.
