Kokyo Gaien National Garden

Located outside the Imperial Palace, the residence of the imperial family, this lush park is dotted with historical structures. After sunset, the Sakuradamon Gate and some of the ramparts are illuminated by soft lighting. The walking paths around the palace are popular with runners, who can be seen circling the grounds year-round. When jogging, remember that pedestrians have priority, and that you’re expected to run counterclockwise around the loop. Maintaining a relaxed pace, you can enjoy the seasonal scenery and many landmarks, some of which are illuminated at night.
