Kabukiza Theatre

Tokyo’s main Kabuki theater opened in 1889 and has been cherished as a symbol of the Ginza neighborhood ever since. Its current incarnation is part of the Ginza Kabukiza complex, which also includes the Kabukiza Tower as well as the Kabukiza Gallery, the Memories of Kabukiza Theatre exhibition, and a rooftop garden—all places where you can experience the world of Kabuki beyond the stage. On the basement level is the Kobikicho Plaza, lined with restaurants, bars, and specialty shops. All in all, this is a place well worth a visit even if you don’t have a theater ticket.
