Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum
The Edo-Tokyo Museum offers a place for visitors to reflect on the history and culture of Tokyo and to contemplate the future of life in the city. The permanent exhibition hall spans approximately 9,000 square meters, centering on an atrium on the 5th and 6th floors, and consists of the Edo Zone, the Tokyo Zone, and the Feature Exhibition Gallery . You get to learn about approximately 400 years of history—from the time when the city was called Edo until the present day—through numerous artifacts, life-size reproductions of historical buildings, and interactive exhibits. The special exhibition room on the first floor hosts four to five different exhibitions each year, while on the Edo-Tokyo Terrace on the third floor, videos featuring the museum’s collection and seasonal themes are projected onto the ceiling and pillars, enveloping the space.
