The Supreme Craftsmanship of Hans J. Wegner: Works from the Oda Collection
This extensive retrospective brings together the largest collection in Japan of masterpieces by Hans J. Wegner, a leading figure not only in mid-century Danish design but in the entire history of twentieth-century furniture design. Occupying a space designed by architect Tsuyoshi Tane, the display revisits Wegner’s achievements and philosophy through approximately 160 chairs, other pieces of furniture, and related materials. Notable highlights include reproductions of the “First Chair,” created by the 17-year-old Wegner, and the “Second Chair,” of which only three were ever made.
