Synchronic Constellation: Cross-Boundary Perspectives in Art
This exhibition reexamines modern Taiwan and Japan through diverse forms of culture and the arts. Its starting point is the movie Le Moulin, which depicts the modernist Le Moulin Poetry Society, a group formed in Tainan during the 1930s under Japanese rule. The film traces the activities of Taiwanese and Japanese poets as they gathered to write in Japanese while advocating for surrealism in Taiwan. With director Ya-li Huang serving as guest curator, the exhibition expands upon the reflections and editing methods surrounding the film, presenting approximately 200 works of modern Taiwanese art, about 500 related materials, and roughly 100 Japanese works across six chapters. The staging incorporates video and reflective materials, along with a layout designed to invite visitors to wander.
