Spring Festival in the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo: Blossoms in Japanese Art
The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo brings back its annual Spring Festival, an exhibition featuring works inspired by the season. Artworks on display include “Scroll of Cherry Blossoms” by Atomi Gyokushi, who was known for her sakura paintings; “Fine Rain on Mt. Yoshino” by Kikuchi Hobun, depicting the famed cherry blossoms of Yoshino near Nara; and “Parting Spring,” an Important Cultural Property by Kawai Gyokudo, in which cherry blossoms are seen scattering onto the surface of a river. Enjoying the springtime atmosphere inside the museum can be combined with cherry blossom viewing at the nearby Chidorigafuchi moat.
