Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2026
Established by actor Tetsuya Bessho out of a desire to introduce short films—a genre he encountered in the United States—to Japan, this film festival aims to promote a new visual culture originating in Asia and to nurture emerging young filmmakers. This year’s theme is “Cinema Engineering,” with the festival shining a spotlight on short films as a form of “design science” that meticulously combines cinematography, lighting, sound, and AI to craft experiences that resonate with audiences. In addition to film screenings such as “Culinary Program: Memories of Flavor” and an Art Program, the festival will feature talks, seminars, workshops, and other events. Check the official website for details on the films and program.
