Nishi-Shinjuku 1-Chome Ginkgo Trees Light Display

The area around Shinjuku, characterized by towering skyscrapers, is in the midst of redevelopment and to make up for the lack of street lighting, the avenue of gingko trees are being illuminated. As the leaves of the ginkgo, the Tokyo Metropolitan tree, turn yellow, they are lit up with classical-colored light bulb illuminations to create a relaxing urban atmosphere. Enjoy the charming scenery that makes use of the autumn leaves, one of Japan’s most beautiful landscapes, right in the heart of the city.

Note: This event is sponsored in part by the Autumn Illuminations Model Business Grant, a program run jointly by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government & the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau.
