Special Night Viewing of the Autumn Leaves at Rikugien Gardens

Built centuries ago and used as a second residence by Mitsubishi founder Yataro Iwasaki in the late 1800s, the picturesque Rikugien Gardens will open for special evening hours to coincide with the fall foliage season. Although the garden normally closes in the late afternoon, from November 25 to December 6 it will stay open until 5pm, close for an hour, and then reopen from 6 PM to 8:30 PM (with last entry at 7:30 PM). The entire garden will be illuminated during the event, when the autumn leaves are at their best, making the colorful trees stand out against the nighttime garden. In addition to projections on the walls of a historic storehouse built during the Iwasaki family’s ownership, this year will also see projection mapping in the garden’s bamboo grove. The historic architecture and natural surroundings combine to create a fantastical atmosphere.
