49th Okutama Noryo Fireworks Festival

Held on the second Saturday of August in the lush natural surroundings of the town of Okutama, the Okutama Noryo Fireworks Festival is a local summer tradition. Approximately 1,000 fireworks are launched from the summit of Mt. Atago and can be viewed from a wide area, including the vicinity of Okutama Station. With the echoes of the explosions reverberating through the nearby mountains, the event offers a unique sense of immersion unlike any other fireworks display. Perhaps its greatest appeal is the chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy fireworks amidst the natural beauty of the mountains.
