The Hama-rikyu Gardens were originally built as a retreat for the Tokugawa shogunate and were used as a reception venue for distinguished guests during the Meiji era (1868–1912). This autumn, the grounds will host moon-viewing strolls from October 21 to 23. Opening hours will be extended until 9 PM and a variety of events will take place, including an offering ceremony at the moon-viewing platform (October 21 only), performances of traditional arts, and guided moon-viewing tours. In addition, as 2026 marks the 80th anniversary of the garden’s opening as a public park, “A Leisurely Stroll Through the Garden at Night” walks will be held from October 30 to November 3, with opening hours extended for this occasion as well. Tea will be served at the teahouse on Nakajima Island and food trucks will be on hand to feed hungry visitors. Spend a luxurious evening admiring the full moon in this tranquil inner-city garden.

*Please note that access to certain parts of the gardens will be restricted after 17:00 for safety reasons.
*The Nakanogomon Gate closes at 17:00 (last admission at 16:30). After 17:00, please use the Otemon Gate.

Fees: No special evening admission tickets are required for this event. The exhibition can be viewed by paying the standard admission fee to the gardens.
General: 300 yen / Aged 65 and over: 150 yen (Free for elementary school students and younger, and for junior high school students residing in or attending school in Tokyo.)
*Children of elementary school age or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
*Admission is free for holders of a Disability Certificate, ‘Ai no Techo’ (Certificate of Support), Rehabilitation Handbook or Mental Health and Welfare Handbook issued in Japan, and one accompanying person.
The ‘Mirairo ID’ disability certificate app can also be used. No prior notification is required; please present it at the ticket counter before entering.
Please note that presenting various benefit recipient certificates does not entitle to free admission.
