The Edogawa City Fireworks Festival is a major pyrotechnics display held simultaneously in Tokyo’s Edogawa City and the neighboring Ichikawa City in Chiba Prefecture. Taking place on the banks of the Edo River, the event features 14,000 fireworks launched over approximately one hour starting at 7:15 P.M. The night sky is illuminated by seven creatively themed displays, beginning with an opening sequence during which 1,000 fireworks are set off in just 5 seconds. The event’s appeal lies in its cutting-edge production, which blends traditional fireworks with music. Don’t miss the “Grand Fuji Display,” which at 59.2 meters holds a Guinness World Record for being the world’s tallest mountain-shaped fireworks display. As the surroundings get extremely crowded, be sure to plan ahead and arrive early to find a good viewing spot.
