First held in 2022, “AMBIENT KYOTO”—an exhibition composed of sound, art, and space centered on the theme of ambient—is making its Tokyo debut at the Azabudai Hills Gallery. The exhibition features “async – immersion” by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Shiro Takatani, a multidisciplinary artwork based on Sakamoto’s 2017 album “async.” The piece combines Takatani’s visuals with spatial audio by sound director ZAK, allowing visitors to experience it on the same scale as when it was first unveiled at “AMBIENT KYOTO 2023.” Projected onto a massive screen spanning 26.4 meters in width, this standalone installation offers a truly exceptional sense of immersion.
