Akasaka Crimson Lights Festival
During the Edo period, Akasaka flourished as a castle town under the rule of Tokugawa Yoshimune. Even today, the area preserves a rich variety of historical traditions, including Edo-style festival floats and legacies of the former geisha district.
This event will decorate the streets of Akasaka with Edo-inspired elements such as traditional noren curtains and lanterns, and offer a wide range of cultural experiences, including furisode dressing, tea ceremony workshops, and performances of traditional Japanese musical instruments.
On the opening day, Saturday, February 28, the “Akasaka Parade” will take place, featuring Edo-style festival floats making their way through the streets of Akasaka.
On the final evening, Sunday, March 8, an “Edo Bon Odori” will be held at Akasaka Sacas Plaza, where participants can join the Bon-dancing by an Edo-style float.
All programs are free to join, except for food and beverages. We look forward for your participation.
