This is the ninth installment of a project featuring works created by artists inspired by their experiences at SHIBUYA SKY, the observation facility at SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE, under the shared theme of “Expanding Perspectives.” The featured artist this time is Kosei Komatsu, an installation creator also noted for his spatial designs for commercial facilities. Drawing on the concept of “floating,” Komatsu has previously presented delicate installations that express motifs of lightness, movement, and luminosity in space, using birds and feathers as key imagery. The formless presence of the sky quietly takes shape as you engage with Komatsu’s work, which is rooted in the artist’s longstanding contemplation of this lofty theme.
